8th January

Human was down really early today. I spent the night with Rosie, she calmed down eventually. This morning when human turned up we were just grazing quietly down the bottom of the field. Human was busy cleaning the field when a dog walker with his dog off the lead walked through our fields. Rosie didn't even seem to notice them which is good. I came in  and that set Rosie off shouting and stressing. I am coming back Rosie, really I am.

I went in my room for a munch. Frank and Brack got dressed to take NRH and Franks human out for a ride. That's Frank and his human in the photo. Handsome devil isn't he? I felt really sad watching the excitement of them getting ready and setting off without me and human. Soon I hope. However while they were gone human put straw in my room. What a fab big deep wonderful warm bed I now have. I love straw beds. Not had one in a long time.
Frank and his human came back quite soon without NRH and Bracks. Frank wasn't feeling too good so Bracks took NRH off on their own. Soon enough they returned. Can you guess what happened next?
Human and NRH only got ME dressed for riding. I can't take human out but did get to take NRH out. We had a super ride. It was a bit ouchy on my feet by the space centre. NRH let me pick my own way mostly on the verges so that was nice.
When we got back I got my breakfast and went back out to Rosie. See silly girl told you I would be back. She was very pleased to see me and I have to say I was very pleased to see her too. It's nice not being on my own any more.

  1. I would love to use straw for Baasha's bed but I'm no good at trying to clean it. I simply have no skills because in America we mostly use shavings. I use pellets now and it's like cleaning a cat box, so easy. I want to provide him a straw bed, but also it doesn't break down like other types and I don't have a manure disposal system, I just spread it mayself and hope it breaks down fast. This is one case where boarding horses is better than keeping a horse at home - they have manure disposal/reuse systems on a large scale. When I get a second horse I'm gonna contact the city and ask them to help me with a formal disposal plan. I have no idea and I'm worried about this - most farms have their own tractors and spread it themselves. So I have to say I'm jealous of your straw bed, please don't tell Baasha about it.
